Our Initiatives

Your Sodexo Campus Dining Team is dedicated to sustainability. We know we can all work together to make a positive impact right here at Colorado Mountain College - Steamboat Springs. In addition to the many initiatives we take on as a company, we have implemented the following programs specific to Colorado Mountain College Leadville.

Trayless

We are a trayless campus. Customers without trays typically waste less food and beverages. It is also a healthier approach to eating, as we all know that at times our eyes are bigger than our stomach. Trayless dining also reduces the amount of water and detergents needed to wash trays - and saves energy too!

Xprss Nap

Xprss Nap Dispensers save energy and waste. The napkins are made of 100% recycled paper and the dispenser will encourage customers to take (and waste) fewer napkins. Energy is saved because less power is used to recycle paper products than to create them from virgin material.

Choose to Reuse

The “Choose to Reuse” plastic to-go boxes are similar in shape to the disposable boxes previously available. The new takeout boxes are sealable and designed to be carried around without leaking. Containers cost just $5.00.

When the used, rinsed out containers are returned to the dining hall, If students and staff want to turn in a box, and not take one they will receive a carabiner entitling them to a clean to-go box. The used boxes will be cleaned, sterilized, and put back into circulation.

This reusable container is only available in the Dining Hall and is only good for the calendar year.

Composting

All of our post consumer waste is recycled or sent out for composting. Please use the receptacles we have provided for you in our dining hall for both recyclable and compostable items.

Food Recovery Certified

We work with the Campus Food Recovery Network by donating food that would otherwise go to waste to people in need in our community. Sodexo has donated over 3,500 pounds of food to two local non profit organizations.

Industrial Grease Recycleing

We take our used fryer oil and have it recycled into bio fuel that is used all across Colorado.
